The Manchester Bees blog is a site dedicated to celebrating one of Manchester’s most enduring icons, the bee, looking at its history and its presence as a symbol around Manchester city centre. Previously built on tumblr, the blog’s creator wanted to give the new site a fresh look and a clearer visual identity as well as building on WordPress for improved functionality and greater developmental control.

Using the Divi Builder developed by Elegant Themes, we built the bespoke home page layout, a series of information pages, and a flexible system of templates to make the production of blog posts simple, consistent, and visually appealing.

We also developed the Manchester Bees visual identity – the bee logo, background pattern, colour scheme and typographic choices – to create a bold statement, combining modern and traditional elements, and giving a warm and approachable but not overly feminine or masculine feel.
